I have a 1986 E28 with the Universal M12 Diesel. The alternator belt is a little loose, yet the bracket that holds the alternator is maxed out. The belt is the correct size, and the previous owner says it was always like this. He was concerned, but never had a problem.
Is there any reason that I can not get a belt that is an inch shorter, but otherwise the same?
Thoughts?
