Adding an Inverter

Just bought an Ericson 30+ (1985) which I will keep on a mooring. I saw 3 plugs which I assumed to be outlets for an inverter. When I removed the caps, the plugs are flat with two holes (not like a car lighter plug). My questions are 1. What type of plug is this for and 2) how can I install an inverter so I can charge my cell & computer. Thanks for the help.

Hi Grumpy,

I'm having trouble imagining what you are describing. Are you saying there are outlets with screw-on covers ? Are the pins that would fit into the plug supposed to be flat like a US wall plug or how are they different ?

Is there an inverter or are the plugs just wired from the shore power ?

inverter

my experience with inverters is that i prefer not to use them; especially for the laptop; my inverter would get quite warm (actually hot)as would the charger; I got a 12v charger and it was much cooler; which meant fewer amps being converted to heat thus conserving house battery power.
