boom on E23 separating near aft end

The boom on my E23 seems to separate and release the foot of the sail at the aft end of the boom. Does anyone know how this can be corrected without buying another boom. Any help would be helpful.

Hikes/walks at the west end of Catalina

We'll spend part of Saturday hiking with some friends at the West end on Catalina. Any suggestions for the most scenic ones or which way to go if we want to see the buffalo ? Is the bald eagles' nest visible from any of the trails ? Thanks, -Sve

Two sailboats lost at West End this weekend

I just heard from a man who lives aboard his boat on B dock at Cabrillo Marina that his two neighbors lost their boats at the West End on Sunday. Both boats were at Catalina Harbor for the weekend and left Sunday afternoon. One boat - a Fuji 32 I think he said - lost power and the woman...

There is light at the end of the tunnel!

I have been throwing all my time and effort at the boat since January and today, finally, it seems like it is coming to a close. Not out of the woods yet by any stretch but I can see the end is in sight. The winter refit list got longer and longer and seems to have grown into a thing with a...

Anchor line bitter end attachment point

Hi Sailors, I have recently purchased a 1984 Ericson 30 + and it is a great little boat. We are getting ready for the spring raft up season here in San Diego and while going over my anchoring gear I found that there is no attachment point for the bitter end of the line. The boat is loaded...

end boom mainsheeting and traveler location

Has anyone moved the mainsheet on an E38 closer to the binnacle? I have a plan all worked out in my devious little head of a way to do it (and have it be temporary/easily changed back) but if someone has a better way, please let me know so I can save some time from the experimentation stage...

Spinnaker shape question/Pole end pin jam problem

Spinnaker shape question Last weekend I flew for the first time the UK tri-radial spinnaker that came with my boat. I noticed that it seems cut somewhat narrowly (almost concave) in the shoulders. Does this mean it is designed more for reaching that downwind?

Problem installing end caps on Schaeffer traveler/Headliner zipper

I just received the replacement end caps for my Schaeffer traveler on my '86 E30+. The old ones were crumbling. The new ones have a squarish shape, versus the rounded old ones, but look fine. (I got them from Rig-Rite in RI - www.rigrite.com at the suggestion of a poster here. Thanks for the...

    Anchor Line Bitter End

While restoring my '73 E25, I discovered that the forepeak anchor line locker has no place to tie the anchor line bitter end. There is no deckhatch access, just a deckpipe and cap. Maybe it is a holdover from my old powerboat days, but since I will be sailing with inexperienced crew and in...

The rubber end caps on my original equipment Schaeffer traveler for my '86 E-30+ are rapidly cracking and crumbling from age, salt water and U/V exposure, etc. Does anyone know if replacement caps are available? Thanks, Rob
