Foot pump installation in galley help please

John: The toe-stubbing issue is a major issue, and I'm trying to find the least intrusive install. If it sticks out too far I might have to make some kind of a hingeable cover plate or whatever. We already have an electric pump which has had a few issues which is why we want the manual as a...

    Need Advice on Varnish Drying

Thanks to all who responded to my query. The varnish used was West Marine's version by Epifanes. It was resolved by placing a heater and fan down below and having our wonderful live-aboard next door neighbor keep an eye on things. It still took 2 days minimum between coats. Next time I do...

Does anyone know of a catalyst or additive to speed up the drying time of varnish? Have repaired the bulkhead forward of the settee on and it is taking an eternity for the varnish to dry. The first coat was applied 50/50 varnish and thinner as per the instructions and I might be able to apply...

    Winch installation questions

We just bought an 1973 Ericson 35. The mast has a winch for the jib which is on a roller furling, but no winch on the mast for the main halyard. There is a aprox. 3/8" aluminum pad on the mast obviously intended for a winch placement. I have the drill, the tap and die set, etc. and a Barlow...
