Joe, thanks for your reply. I have a rule bilge pump aft of that box in the bilge. I will have to look inside again, but the original pump might be gone. I must have 3 hoses in the bilge then. One original, one new, and one for the manual pump. I can only guess that the hose that doesn't exit...

Thanks Loren. I can't find any thru hulls for the 1/4" hose. I have 2-3/4" bronze thru hulls that I can use for the bilge and possibly a second bilge pump. What did you use for the siphon?

Gel Coat Chipping the gel coat is always concern. You might try going through the gel coat in reverse. After making the hole bevel the gel coat to keep it from crazing. I'm no pro for sure, but I did that at the direction of others.

Heat Gun I use a heat gun to strip, lightly sand, the varnish on the boat. I don't think that I could have made them look any better if I removed them first. Removing the vanish takes about an hour for each. I use a dull putty knife and a good heat gun. Light sanding takes 15 minutes and each...

My '28 has the bulb modification. A previous owner had it done. I don't have much to compare it to, but my boat sails great. I have the original paperwork for the modification if anyone is really interested I can dig it up and post it. I didn't realize that it was at all common.
