Thanks Alan, Motor came with new engine mounts so I made two flat plates to take new mounts and these bolted down using old holes. Very little difference for alignment really so this was sorted with some shims and on the flexible coupling.
I fitted a Yanmar 2YM15 on Trithena (Ericson 27) a couple of years ago and its a lovely little engine & easy to install. Also upgraded to a flexible coupling and PSS dripless seal at the same time which made for a neat installation and started up first time out of the box! I've no hesitation in...
Spent the morning on the boat pumping out and removing the old tank. No way would it come out without cutting it up with an angle grinder! New tank on order after carefully measuring the hatch opening so fingers crossed it fits through when it arrives. Will spend the next few days cleaning up...
Thanks Keith,
I've struggled to find anyone on island to quote a reasonable price for a replacement in alloy or stainless so am looking for one from the UK in plastic. There are a few standard designs about on ebay and the like that should fit through the cockpit locker so just looking for...
Hello Guys,
Having found a small but persistant diesel leak in the bilge I've traced it back to the original tank which has a small pinhole leak in it so the time has come to rip it out and replace it with a new plastic tank. Has anyone got any advice or possibly photos of their tank locations...
Looking for advice on the best prop size for an Ericson 27 refitted with a Yanmar 2YM15 engine? The previous engine fitted was a Westerbeke 21hp 3 cylinder running a two bladed prop. Having changed the motor, coupling, shaftseal & shaft I left the original prop on to see how things worked but...
From watching the guys working on Trithena I have to say I couldn't fault the preparation. The soda blasting took all the old antifoul off and then the entire hull was abraded by machine & hand to allow the Coppercoat to adhere. There were three boats (one power boat and one other yacht) in...
Coppercoat - four seasons on
I'm now on my fourth season with Coppercoat on Trithena and have had poor results from it. Having read about it and all the glowing testamonials I went ahead and had it professionally applied by the local agent. The hull was soda blasted back to gel coat and then...
I had exactly the same problem on Trithena with the bow section & one of the transom fittings. Being based in the IOM I couldn't find anything remotely similar so I found the easiest solution was to remove the fittings and repair cracks with body filler, sand down, coat with fibreglass release...
Looking at your photo's the pump looks like it has a fuse rating of 15A? If the initial load is greater than 10A it will trip the circuit breaker each time so you could try simply connecting it to the cabin lights circuit (15A) and see if this clears the problem for you. On Trithena (E27) I've...
Hello Steve
On Trithena (E27) inside the mast foot has a short stand pipe (4ins high) that the wires pass through. On the rear facing wall of the foot there is a 1/4 ins hole in the side wall with a corresponding hole in the base of the mast which allows any water inside the mast to drain out...
Brilliant use of the space available and lovely cabinet work! photos have inspired the thought....has anyone designed a chart table for their E27? I keep looking at Trithena and wishing there was a dedicated chart table rather than using the cabin table whilst bouncing round the Irish Sea -...
Don,
I hade the same problem on Trithena when the original stove packed up. I found an almost direct replacement with the Origo 4100 two burner spirit cooker with cutting board built in. It only took some minor adjustments to the hole to make a really neat fit and the cooker works great...
