Hi Bob
We have a 28+ with a 10hp Universal. The stock prop for that is 12x12 with two blades. This fall I put a new Campbell Sailor 12x7 three blade on and it makes all the difference in the world. An 11 in. pitch for 8hp seems excessive to me.

Summer Morage
Hi Bill
In theory there should be lots of empty slips as so many of us will be out sailing. My slip will be empty from mid April to mid Sept but being in the Islands would add greatly to your commute.

Hi Bill
It was pretty easy when I had Ruckus in Blaine. I've been on Saturna Island for the last 3 years so I'm not really up to date. However a couple of phone calls would give you the latest.

Hi Bill
Blaine,Bellingham and Anacortes are located downtown and close to good sailing. La Conner is certainly worth a visit but is a further distance to sailing as you have to contend with the river or canal, also the current can make docking there fun. Point Roberts might be...
What Boat
Started on a home built Sabot on the Gorge (Victoria B.C.) when I was 9. After a short time it was Mark 3 and Mark 4 service dinghys at RCNSA ( now CFSA Esquimalt ) then Sailorettes until Dad built one of the early Thunderbirds ( #55 ). Currently we sail an Ericson 28+ from Saturna...
Maiden Voyage
So happy for you Phil. They are a great boat and I'm sure you will get years of pleasure from her. Like Frank said every sailor goes aground at some point: I think I still have enough fingers to count the number of times I've had one of my boats in a place where it is "unsinkable"...
Loose strut
Thanks Afrakes
I think I'll try your remedy. I found no sign of the bolts that Toddster mentions and I found a sight that says the 28's are "bonded" to the skin on the inside. Either way if you fill the void it'll tighten things up. Did you do yours from inside or outside? What did...
loose strut
Thanks Toddster
It looks to me that the strut on the 28+ is just glassed in. At least there is a large area of raised or thickened glass in the area I think the strut should be. I'll check more closely tomorrow. I hope you're right as that would be an easy fix.

Loose strut
Hi Tom
My E-28+ has a loose strut. How did the yard fix yours? I'm thinking to drill a couple of holes and filling the void with epoxy or a couple of carriage bolts.Anybody with a 3rd, 4th or 5th idea?

CNG to propane
Hi Toru
If propane is easier for you to get you might get a gas-fitter to change the jets on your stove. Propane has a much higher BTU value and the jets are smaller. My stove came with both sets of jets and I'm using propane.

Phil's new boat
Hi Phil
Congratulations on your new boat! Hope you enjoy it as much as we do ours. I had North Sails make me a new main when I bought. The jenny should last a couple of more years I think. Any new one we get will be slightly smaller ( currently 120 ). I would shorten it about a...
