sounds like the best plan. I will probably only make it about 6-8 inches wide though. i dont want to make it a double bunk, just wide enough to lay single a bit more confy. I actually alos made the same fold up/down counter extension that you describe. it make a world of differnce while...

making side berth a bit wider?

thanks. I dont think a slide out arrangement would work too well for me. i get into those settee lockers all the time and a sliding platform over them would be a real problem. I may cogitate on a 6-8"stip of wood that would be hinged and fold down when not i use. cheers and fair winds to all. Kyle

making side berth a bit wider?

thanks for the ideas. I already use a few planks stretched across from one seat to the other to make a nice double bed for when "special" company comes aboard. I am looking to make the single berths a bit more comfy for when the guys come over. I get into those under-seat lockers all the time...

making side berth a bit wider?

hello, i have a an E27. I have been kicking around an idea for making the side berths a bit wider for sleeping. I have seen other boats (Newport 30, for example) where the backrests were arranged to be slid back tighter against the hull, allowing several more inches of width for sleeping. I have...

    anchor cleat mounting E 27

Hello, I have an E 27 and want to mount an anchor cleat/samson post of some sort on the bow deck. With a proper sized (12"?) backing plate underneath, is there any reason this area of deck could not handle that kind of strain? I was wondering if I would need to also run a cable or chain from...

    bottom cleaning

Hi Jeff, thanks. that is good info. I did actually check out Al Larsen but they had no vacancy. I called Lighthouse and they offer a good deal but your are right, very far up the channel. I have not checked out cabrillo yet, but will on my next trip out. So many options. cheers kyle

    bottom cleaning

thanks everybody. yes the So CAl area seems to be pretty fertile for bottom critters, and sounds like you are confirming what this dive fellow is telling me. I am planning to do the paint work myself. (I also need to replace a seacock while I am it.) cheers Kyle

    bottom cleaning

I am new to having a boat in a slip in salt water (Los Angeles), and wonder what is a normal schedule for having the bottom cleaned? I know it needs new bottom ASAP, but even so is a bottom cleaning every month normal? the bottom cleaning diver in the neighborhood is telling me it is. Any...

    tiller pilot for E-27?

Hello Folks, I am the proud new owner of an E27, (berthed in Dana Point CA) I am wondering if anyone has an opinion as to an appropriate tiller pilot for her for occaisional single hand use. the raymarine 1000 says it is good for boats displacing 6500 lbs. This boat lists displacement at...

Hello, I am looking for an Ericson 25+, preferably in the Seatle area, but could consider transporting for the right situation. Any out there? Also, as I look at used 25+, can you suggest any particular "problem" areas to watch out for? thanks Kyle
