    Bristol Varnish

Opinions.... I am looking to refinish all of the wood on my E35, and there is a lot. Interior/Exterior, you name it, it needs work. I am not well versed in varnishes and so came on looking for some passive advice. I first found this thread, where Martin King touts Bristol Finish...

    Costs of Pulling the Mast

Wow. I never expected such a response! Thank you! I'll let you guys/gals know what I find out from my marina and I'll definitely look into the Portsmouth company as well. I'm in the process of prioritizing jobs to be done and this one may or may not make the list for this winter/spring. I...

    Costs of Pulling the Mast

I've not had any leaks (that I know of!) surrounding the mast, but there are some cracks along the base of the mast and while I am working on other cracks/crazing/gouges I thought I would take care of the cracks at the mast as well. But, if this is a larger issue I might need to pull the mast...

    All Ericson Shirts

Do you do any custom lettering in addition? Say, the Ericson 35 with the name of the boat somewhere?

I go down tomorrow to VA to pay for the boat. The survey came back very good, a few little problems, nothing serious. Those Chainplates aren't leaking, just ugly. But they must have been a problem at some point because the surveyor said a bulkhead had been replaced. He said the replacement...

    Not to steal Eric's thunder....

Most likely varnish. I know the headaches it can cause with upkeep, but I can't deny the way it looks. I want to have the interior as seamlessly connected with wood as possible, but I want to vary gloss/semi/matte for different areas of the boat. Not too busy, but enough of a contrast that it...

Kind of what I thought too. The other plates don't look as bad, some look just fine. I am a big guy, 285+lbs and I jumped and stomped on the deck all around the plate as well I leaned and pulled on the wire attached and saw and felt no movement or give whatsoever. I hope I can do a bit better...

Pictures!! Here is my Shutterfly collection for the boat. It and other pictures taken later will serve as "Before" content. Hopefully I will be adding "after" pictures later on. http://firstladye35.shutterfly.com/action/ Let me know what you think about that chainplate attachment....it is...

Wow! That is a lot of great information. I really like the idea of joining a crew, and getting them to come aboard my boat as well! I never have any weekends off, but I heard yesterday that there are some racing groups out of Annapolis that are usually held on weekdays and that would work...

    Not to steal Eric's thunder....

Hey, there is a lot of built in value on that boat! The ports look nice, the teak exterior is good, you have easier access to cabin top hardware thanks to no headliner, and the galley is far better equipped than mine. I have a campstove and an ice box.... All in all, I'd say you are...

    Not to steal Eric's thunder....

Steal my thunder will you! :egrin: No, congrats and I hope goes well. I love the yellow and black, a striking combination and shows off the sheer line very well. Send some pics of the inside, I want to compare disrepair. I went to see the First Lady yesterday. The broker was kind enough to...

Thanks, yeah, I am looking at probably being at either Lippincott Marine or Mears Point Marina. I work about three minutes from both and I live even closer to both. They are pricey, I guess, but nothing like Annapolis or other more desirable locales. I will certainly look into the racing...

Thank you all for the comments and support. I am really excited about this boat, so is my fiancee. We are both captains and she was a halibut and salmon fishing captain in Alaska for 3 years. We now live in Chester, MD, (close to Red Eye's and the Jetty for the locals!) and are looking...

I will certainly be posting pics along with my soon to be ill-fated projects. The interesting thing is that, although I am a 100ton capt. and have operated far large powerboats, the sail boat seems more intimidating. That is the whole point, though. To expand my boating and cruising...
