i went through the same miasma of confusion and indecision when i was measuring for a new main on my 27. fortunately, it's a passing condition! my advice would be to not worry about whether or not it's a "tall rig" -- a term that implies but ultimately lacks precision -- and just measure! not...

i think it's funny that Ericson said in the Owner's Manual (i'm paraphrasing here), "Warning: Over time, these windows *will* leak. Fixing them is your problem, not ours." at least they were up front about it!

i rebedded one on my E27 a couple months ago. i'm not an expert glazer by any means, but it doesn't leak anymore so the project was deemed a success. basically i removed the window, scraped the old gunk off the edges, used silicone for a glazing compound, and used this weatherstripping...

curious: what determines that you'd want to send them your old post to build a new rudder around, versus just ordering a new rudder *and* post? (cool photos, BTW!)

anyone have any experience with these products? they seem competitively priced, but of course, that can be good or bad.... i'm looking for wind, speed and depth, if i can find something i can afford. thought someone here might be familiar with them.

next question: do all 27s have the same diameter rudder post? that is, would one need to pull the rudder and get out the calipers before ordering a new rudder, or would Foss know the proper setup already? (i'll ask Foss too, but they know rudders, you guys know Ericsons.)

their design for the E27 rudder appears to be exactly the same, except A) with a shorter rudder post (26.5 inches, instead of 33.5) and B) with a slightly contoured top edge, i assume to accommodate contours in the bottom of the E27 hull. they quote a price of $950. i wonder what "make from...
