After a week away I came down to find some of the oil had leaked so I am still looking for some advice on what type of oil to add to the damper unit. Any help welcome.
As a follow up, I have now repaired the unit. The repair itself was rather straight forward after we removed the radar and mounting bracket. I replaced the o-ring and tension pin and refilled it with motor oil taking care not to fill it too full to allow for expansion of the oil in the summer...
Has anyone ever serviced one of these? My one has been leaking oil and needs new o rings. I am also not sure what kind of oil was in the damper unit. Any advice welcome. Thank you.

Thank you for all the replies. I have used my fish tape but with no success so far. Hoses seem well and truly locked in place. I am looking at alternative routing of the hose and running a smaller diameter hose through the old one (not ideal but better than the current set up!). Thanks again.
