Ok I was thinking last night, do you E 25 owners lift the roller jib assembly also when raising the mast? I'm trying to think if releasing the jib halyard would be less weight to lift or just complicate getting everything secured once the mast is standing.
I do, Its hard though trying to do it by myself, or with the wife and kid. I think winch on end of boom from the stern with me guiding it and wife on the button might be better. As long as nothing gets hung up unseen...
Only about a foot. Luckily it let go when I first started, it could of been disaster if much higher. Even so it plunged the boom right through my forward hatch. :( I'm trying to think up some kind of mast crutch thingy to help with that first high stress 30- 40 degrees or so. Also might use the...
Anyone know a manufacturer of sliding type goosenecks for my E 25? Google aint helping much. This thing came apart while attempting to raise the mast causing quite a mess. I know there's an enormous amount of stress on the boom and traveler while doing this. Makes me nervous every time.
I used the Catalina kit on my E 25 and it worked great. I also used buytle tape to re-bed the frames and that didn't work at all. They leak worse than before I started. I even used two layers of it on the frames. So now I will re-pull the frames and use the sealer supplied in the kit.....
I've just sailed a few days with light winds and a stuck centerboard on our local lake so far. The previous owner would sail the San Juan Islands frequently and sailed some rough weather there a few times with no problem according to him.
Awesome! Did they specifically have to add weight to it for lowering assistance? I got kind of confused when I spoke with them on the phone. I dont know if I'll get one this season or bash the old one up some more.
So far my little off season wood repair project has turned into re-wiring the...
Kayaks
Back in 05/06 I was able to do an extended cruise down the East Coast and through the Bahamas on a Cal 36. We had two semi-cheap 9ft plastic kayaks that we lashed to the outside of the lifelines. I fashion four J shaped clips out of stainless flat bar to secure them. Kinda like a big gun...
Good info as always. I will probably wire the pump control switch to the main bus and leave it on. As long as everything is fused correctly it should be ok.
I'm rewiring our E 25 and am unsure of the standard practice of bilge pump wiring. Should its power come from downstream of the battery selector switch and this switch just always left on? Or wired directly to a battery? I can also see this dilemma as to wiring the little solar charger I just...
Its definitely the remains of a tricolor. The more I think about it I wont be doing any offshore night passages in this little boat and should probably just replace it with an anchor light.
Ah ok, It must of been a PO add on wired incorrectly. I was thinking about adding one of those Marine Beam tricolor/anchor light LED's . I'll pull a three conductor to drive it and the steaming light independently.
Thanks,
Curt
I'm in the process of rewiring my mast lighting and am confused about the regs. Google says that you cant run the steaming and masthead tricolor at the same time but that's how the original wiring is on my E 25 . I only have two conductors in the mast that connect to the steaming light and mast...
