I recommend sewing the lines together -- end-to-end -- and also wrapping with tape. You'll have a difficult problem if the lines become separated inside the boom. It's worth the extra time and effort to sew the lines together to make sure that you don't get separation inside the boom.

Maybe you've got some air trapped in one of the coolant lines and the coolant is not circulating as normal? You might try bleeding the coolant line.

I've owned Valhalla for about 4 years and this is the first time I've serviced the winches. I doubt that any modifications have been made --- all the parts fit very nicely and snuggly together --- and the winch was in good working condition.
