    35-2 Pre Purchase inspection

I'm an E35-2 owner on the Great Lakes... my impression: That looks to be a fair price based on pics. My boat is older (76) and has an atomic 4 that is center mounted so my experience is a little different than yours will be. The only other items not mentioned above that I would look at is the...

    Ericson 35 Mk II Oscillations

Wow - What a race this year. I have done the BayMack a couple times but not the ChiMack. I missed the BayMack though this year - which was the polar opposite, a drifter. Are you sure it's the rub rail? That would be a lot of water to get through there. Diagram attached. Brad

    E35-II Cockpit Cubby / Coamings

Cuckpit Cubby Thanks Christian - but this is a different area on boat. Some good info in those links though. It's the cubby behind the wood sideboards (which are removed in the picture above). So I don't have an issue with the wood opening, it's inside the cubby itself.

    E35-II Cockpit Cubby / Coamings

Traced an intermittent leak at the end of last season to the cubby in my cockpit (a win in itself as it had mystified me). The fillet along the edge of the cubby was a layer of fiberglass. Over time the single cosmetic layer had deteriorated. Started pulling it off and it was in bad shape...

    Ericson 35 Mk II Oscillations

I have never had oscillations with my 35-II. It does (properly) round up when over powered. I do follow the general rule of reefing early on the main, but I have found that this always needs to be matched by furling the head sail (it's really a head sail driven boat). If I don't balance the...

    Mystery water in bilge

Ok - this one is from experience.... is it your ice chest? I know that sounds crazy, but mine drains into my bilge. Go out for a sail, drop some ice in the chest and there you have it. A humility story: when I first bought my boat, I noticed after some sails, but not all, I would have...

    E28+ jib hits spreader

As far as tuning. Try moving your rail block (for the jib sheet) aft. That will open the top of the sail and pull it away from the spreader.

    Ericson 30+ cockpit enclosures

This only addresses half of your question, the sun.... and then only when at the dock: The PO of my 35-2 had an elegant boom tent solution that has just been great. He found a nice rain fly to a camping tent (actually nailed the color of gray with navy trim). It has elastic leads with S-clips...

    Mast For Sale on Facebook

Seen on Facebook: Mast from an Ericson. 28'5" with base, standing rigging and winch, no spreaders. Boom available. $600 Athens, AL Its in decent shape. spreader brackets need attention, base cap included. Matching boom for $200. I'm willing to trade for a 32' 0" mast that would be proper for...

Angle of heel to increase waterline for 35-3...will it help?

    Actually my 35-2 may not be a great comparison. ____ LOA|LWL|LWL/LOA 35-2 | 35 | 25 | 0.71 35-3 | 35 | 28 | 0.80 38__ | 38 | 31 | 0.81 The heeling to get longer effective LWL may be something that's more beneficial for the 35-2 but not as much as the 35-3 and 38. Would be great to...

Angle of heel to increase waterline for 35-3...will it help?

More is better.... up to a point I'd agree with all said here as it matches my experience with my 35-II. In all wave conditions, I seem to have a sweat spot of heel at about 15-20deg. 20-25deg in flatter water and I can squeeze some more out of her; but not in waves. Heel beyond that and I...

    Bulkhead Creaking - E35-2

Good idea I grabbed some silicone lube last night and sprayed it into the headliner/bulkhead joint. It seemed to help some but not fully alleviate the creak (luckily it was blowing on the lake last night). I think I need to let it work itself in and do a couple of applications. Will...

    Bulkhead Creaking - E35-2

I get a fair bit of low frequency wave action at my dock. Even in the slip, I get creaking at the top of the bulkhead (the one that makes the front of the nav station and the settee/stove). The bulkheads are in good shape. The decks above them were re-cored 5-7 years ago and are not soft...
