Does anyone out there know of a formula for determining the correct length of the downhaul on a 28? Or is there a general formula for determining the correct length on boats in general (other than repeating what is there ;-)
Thanks in advance,
Frank
Safe and sound!
I have it at home, when I replace the bulkhead it goes right back where it was. That's where it started and that's where it stays!:egrin:
Was refitting the anchor locker on my 1986 28.2 and in doing so had to remove the bulkhead at the bow. When I removed it I noticed a 1976 liberty dime that had been glued to the inside of the plywood bulkhead. When I replace the bulkhead the dime absolutely goes back. I wonder who at the factory...
Hi Mark, I"m not sure if the teak and holly in my boat if the original or not. The method of installation (glue only) is not in keeping with how Ericson built them. I frequently hang out in the "dead bone" section of the marina. I'll keep you in mind and if I see a suitable piece of T&H I'll get...
Thanks for the reply - the current sole is/was all in one piece. I suspect that its not the original. I may forgo the teak and holly and try bamboo instead. First I have to sell the admiral on the idea. I wouldn't worry over being ignored with a suggestion for world peace - they don't listen to...
Thanks for the reply! The old one consists of plywood with the teak and holly veneer that is 5/16" thick. Other than a burnt orange adhesive that was as mean as you can get to remove, had no other fastener(s). No screws or anything. I found that to be somewhat odd considering how well built the...
Mr. Williams, my posting was:
For the benefit of others and not myself, I reflected regret for the orientation of the photographs, and at no time did I ask you for your help.
Look at yourself for a poor attitude and feel free to remove me from this group at any time.
Sole removed, first with the plywood covers still in place the second with them removed. Whatever is under there is glassed in with many layers. If anyone knows what lies beneath all that fiberglass (other than the Chesapeake Bay) I would love to know!
Don't know why the pictures are coming out...
Hi Mark, I may very well have a piece that will work for you. Let me get the old home and cut the new. If there is a usable piece, then its yours.
Best,
Frank
