Made a bunch of them

They are easy to make, and can be made even better if you "pre stretch" them. Which is basically setting the yarns as the material does not stretch. They are great, but a lot slower to use than piston hanks.

However they will last indefinitely in a locker no matter how wet they get. When you pull them out when used on a storm sail most of the time they are quicker than piston hanks because you don't have to look for the pliers or the PB blaster to get them open :)

You could also use them on the halyard end of things, but I never have.

Another good video for the knot.

We use them on a C&C 35 that I race on to attach the genoa to the sheets. Easy, quick, and simple. I'm sure that there are many other uses for them.

I've been told they are easy to make although I haven't done one yet. It's one of my many winter projects along with splicing eyes into the ends of my sheets.
