With the help of the EYO "for sale/wanted" forum, I located a pedestal steering system to replace the one the prior owner of my E27 CE (cruising edition) sold off her during a personal economic downturn. Now I have all the components of an old Yachting Specialties system complete with an Autohelm 3000 (see attached photo).
I got the pedestal cut down 15" to compensate for the athwardship partition in the cockpit (see photo) and need help placing the sheaves beneath the pedestal. Two sheaves are mounted on a plate which attaches directly below the pedestal (same bolts which hold the pedestal pass through to the plate). These sheaves lead the wires outboard to sheaves mounted on either side of the quadrant.
It is the placement of these outboard sheaves which are critical to the alignment with the quadrant. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.
If you have an E27 CE or the E29 version, could you post photos of your steering compartment?
I have also posted some photos of the tiny/restricted compartment I have to work with.
Thanks .....
