E27 standing rig specs

Just unstepped and stepped the mast on my E27 for the first time. Am considering getting a loos meter to help tune the rigging. Does anyone have guidelines for the desired tension in each of the shrouds?

Thanks,

General guidlines in the manual

Hey Bruce,

The only thing I could find was the section of the owners manual (in the documents section on this website). On page 9 it suggests the stays should have 1-2 inches play, the upper shouds 1-2 in as well, and the lower shrouds 2-3 inches with the forward lowers slightly tighter than the aft lowers. Hope this helps.

Regards.

Loos has two websites. The Naples one, I think, is oriented to what you are after. Here's a link to a page there giving an overview:

I believe that if you are at a total loss on what tension, if you stay in 10-15% of the breaking strength of the wire, you are OK. The Loos gauges have ranges printed right on them. Check out this set of instructions from their site:

Remember, as you are looking at all this, to keep your masthead centered, and make sure you keep it in column. You can check the center by using your main halyard to measure to the chain plates for the upper shrouds. Try sighting up the backstay to see if you hook off port or starboard. If you can stand back, even better. If you can borrow an extra set of eyeballs to independently make observations and then see if you agree on bent or not, better yet. :egrin:
