2000 30' Sailboats sold/year in US

I just saw a short video online about the luxury lifestyle of living aboard a yacht. And in it a broker said that there are only about 2000 over 30' sailboats sold each year in the US.

I'm not sure what I would expect for that figure, but 2000 sure doesn't sound like a lot. No wonder builders are hurting, especially since they like to make mostly the bigger boats.

2,000 New Slips?

That's still alot of "new" slips! With the overabundance of good used boats(Ericsons) around it's NOT surprising that it's a "relatively" low number. Then there's the "price" of a new +30'er.

2,000 new boats is also a fair amount of complicated construction.

Doesn't a really big builder like Catalina put out something like a hundred big boats in a year? That's my impression - could be wrong - but if it's not, then 2000 doesn't sound unreasonable, since most of the builders in the market are making a few dozen/year.
