Replying to an "Older Thread"

Sometimes sailors here hint, in their reply or in their new thread, that they have some hesitation about adding to a thread that is "older."
Sometimes they are referencing a thread that is six months old, and other times the last prior post is several years old.

I would advise that when about to start a new thread you do a quick "Search" on your topic. If there is a relevant one already in existence, go ahead and add to it, and this automatically moves it to the top of the current thread list...
If your question is related to the earlier thread(s), but not really the subject emphasis that you want, put the link to that earlier thread(s) in you opening paragraph.

Having said that, no one should ever feel burdened by this request. As the material on this site grows and and more details keep filling in the knowledge gaps, it is just nice to have little built-in indexes and links along the way. What with thousands of messages in the database, pictures being added, and constant growth, I forsee that we must try to guard against too much "reinventing the wheel."
;)

On the other hand, every owner brings a slightly different pespective to personal in-use information and real-world examples.

Thanks for all your help.

Fair Winds,

Loren
