Seattle Yacht Club cruise n' snooze sailboat rendezvous was this weekend, short non-flying sails race to get us from Seattle-side to Port Madison on Saturday and then back on Sunday. My gf and I won cruising class on day 1! Somehow we ended up the slowest rated boat in the fleet at 195 NFS, slower than a Catalina 30... hmmmmmm. Fortunately for me, our club rater gave me the rating, so I told them who to take their complaints to :) I was 3 minutes late for my start on Day 2, but still ended up 2nd or 3rd for cruising class.

Anyways, here's a nice vid or two of my E32-3 under sail, if I do say so. The Nonsuch 36 I beat said, "I thought your boat looked really nice moving through the water." I'd have to agree.

nice video, thanks. your boat looks bigger than a 32 there.

Thanks! A lot of people tell me that they're surprised it's a 32. Do any other 32-3 owners run into this? I know there's more beam than the 70s versions, but everyone's always mistaking it for a 34 or 35 footer.

Well, https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/ericson-32-3 say's it's 32.5' ... there's a 1/2 foot of the mysterious extra 2-3ft that people are seeing ;-) (the 32-2 is apparently 31.58")
Most builders 'round up' when advertising the boat's length. I guess it was advertised/sold as an E 32-3, instead of an E 33, because it was the next boat in the E 32-ft family.
