Discovery is an Ericson 1983 30+ (See chart below).
She came with a 150% genoa.
When the winds are up to 18-20 Knots the 150% is way too much sail for my comfort.
Christen uses a 90% and others use 110,120, 130 and 135.

So here is the question:
What is your jib/genoa size?

1984 Ericson 30+, Nanaimo, BC
Hi,
On our 1984 E30+ we have a125% furling headsail, which I like alot. It's a good compromise mid - size sail. We also have a 95% jib which I have not used in 11 years of owning this boat, but I tell myself I would use it when cruising if the forecast was for several days of heavier winds - - more than 20 knots or so.
Our 125% is quite a heavy sail, so next time I might go a bit lighter cloth and perhaps go to a130%.
We also have a spinnaker which only gets occasional use as I single hand alot, or sail with my wife, who isn't too comfortable with it in anything but the lightest wind.

Ericson 30+ Jib/Genoa Size

Hi Frank,

I am asking these questions because I want to expand my solo sailing range from 0-15 to 0-25.

I am learning there are other considerations when looking for jib/genoa sizes, like weight, condition, durability, material strength.

I am hoping to gather enough information from Ericson 30+ owners to make a good but expensive purchase.

Thank you for the input, we'll be in touch.

115% Genny in SF Bay

I recently had a new 115% made for Zenergy. Sailmaker (Hood in Sausalito) built in reinforcement part way out from the luff to allow it to work with partially furled at particular points, basically so that on really strong days like yesterday I can reef it to various sizes.
