Stepping up from an 8.5-foot dinghy to a 74-foot schooner is quite a leap. But if you have a wad of cash, a lot of friends, and great big knockers, I suppose it's possible.

Peter Tork loaned him the $25,000 to buy it. Hey Hey It's the Monkeys (money anyway). Nice boat.

Be sure to watch the video on Yachtworld.

Talk about Rock N Roll Memorabilia! :egrin:

After forty years of ownership, David Crosby has decided that it is time for this magnificent sailboat to become part of someone else's life. Many of David's songs have been created on board this spiritual platform. Mayan has been exceptionally well cared for by David. One could sail away tomorrow with inspiration guaranteed. It was very extensively rebuilt (>$600k) in 2005 by Wayne Ettel in Wilmington, CA. The details of the rebuild were featured in WoodenBoat magazine #187/66. This yacht is a CLASSIC WOODEN SAILBOAT in look, in design, and in performance. The boat is a very powerful design that takes the weather very well. The cabin layout is very traditional but easily sleeps eight in three staterooms plus a large saloon double berth. The boat has been continuously upgraded since 2005 with the addition of new electronics and continuous maintenance by paid hands.

The broker's video is pretty good, too. Really lovely boat. And the yard bills? Oh, nothing to worry about. This boat just sort of keeps itself up. Don't have to do a thing, really. Oh, maybe a touch-up to the varnish here and there, but the fellows at the yard will take care of that. The rest you can do yourself, on weekends.

Ha! Gotta love brokers. Updated with modern technology? It's still a plank on frame wood boat. Nothing free or easy about wooden ships on the water. Just ask their owners.

If you took the "spiritual platform" out of the equation, it's about a hundred large..
