If you install a new solar system on your boat, you can take a 30% federal tax credit for the total system install cost (as long as your boat has a head and a galley you can claim it as your primary or secondary residence). The credit expires December 2016.

Now I had not considered that! I know that boats (and RV's) meeting that minimum living arrangement criteria have been eligible to have loan interest written off on federal taxes for several decades.
