MaxProp Feathering Propeller - A Look Inside

Below is a picture of my approximately 25-year-old 3-blade MaxProp, disassembled for inspection. This is the first time I have had it removed and disassembled since I bought the boat nearly 20 years ago. It has been regularly greased and visually inspected while on the shaft. The prop is going...

    Installing a MaxProp, a DIY job ?

Is there anything about a MaxProp which would prevent a DIY installation ? Am I likely to need any special "propeller-puller" tools to remove the old fixed one ? I can't imagine that there is any rocket science involved but I'd rather ask than learn by repeating others' mistakes :-) -Sven

    MAXPROP setting

    MAXPROP setting

I have a E34 (1990) with a Universal M25XP and a Hurth 2:1 transmission. What pitch settings should I use on a 15 inch Maxprop? I had it at 22 degrees and could only get 2400 rpm. The book says it should be 10 degrees. That seems too low. Any thoughts?
