    heavy weather tactics E 38

My brothers and I are in our first year of owning a 1989 E 38-200 and would be interested in how other owners rig these boats for shall we say "more adventurous conditions". Our is a deep keel [6'6"], tall rig model. Currently she is rigged with a Roller Furled working jib [100%] and a full main...

The rig must be really heavy !

We finally got down to our de-rigged Senta today. She's riding at least 2, or maybe 3 inches higher in the water ! I'll have to see if I can find the lbs/in of immersion figure but I'm amazed. A quick guess would be on the order of 500 lbs/in. That would mean the rig comes in at 1000 lbs...

Hello All, I went for a little cruise today on my E38. When I dropped the mooring pennant it was blowing 16-18knots. By the time I got outside the harbor it was blowing 23-25knots. Half and hour later in the East Passage its blowing 25 constant with gusts to 30knots. I never even bothered...

Advice on best heavy wind racing headsail E34

I race my 1987 E34 but do not have a proper headsail for 18to upper 20's. The sail must be furling. I first leaned toward a blade but am told the design of 1980's boats with large fore triangles did much better with a traditional overlaping headsail (plus I was encouraged to get leach...
