    Electric Motor on E35

Thanks very much for the info. I guess I haven't being paying attention to this. My Atomic is hanging in by a thread. One more season and she's going to have to come out. Michael

    Electric Motor on E35

I was just perusing through Ebay and came across a listing for an atomic engine that was for sale. The vendor said he had an E35 mk11 that he was converting to an electric motor. Before I could ask him any questions the listing disappeared. How much would it cost to convert an E35 to an...

    No Forward with Atomic 4

Thanks very much for the comments. I spent the last week researching on this sight and Moyer why I could have no problems in reverse and neural but not forward. The consensus was that this condition is rarely related to the "transmission" so I took all day Friday and looked at all the systems...

    No Forward with Atomic 4

Thanks for responding. I should have been more complete in my description. The first thing I did when this started was change the fuel filter and the fuel pump. The problem persisted. The thing is, I can run the engine in reverse without a problem. I backed out of my club yesterday to go sailing...

    No Forward with Atomic 4

Sigh. My Atomic 4 (1984) is giving me a very curious problem. The engine stalls in forward. When it's cold it will run in forward for about a minute and then gradually depower and stall. When it's hot it stalls immediately. The motor runs fine in Neutral and in reverse. The problem...

    Whisker pole rigging

I sail with a whisker pole quite often in White sail events. The forespar website offers some very good tips on how to rig and sail with a whisker pole. They recommend that the whisker pole be extended to equal the foot of the sail. This is legal to do in PRHF rules. There is no restriction...

    E-35-2 Polars

I'm late to the party also. What do I need to contribute to have these polars? Thanks. Michael Impromptu

    Asymmetrical Spinnaker Questions

I've been looking at the Selden which seems to work quite well and isn't outrageously expensive. The trouble is the rating hit you'll take for having the sprit in your racing. It might make the sprint not worth it. You should look into the penalty for the sprit and add that into the decision mix.

    Plans for Extending Rudder

I haven't followed up on my new rudder. Since my last post -which showed pictures of my disassembled rudder post prior to shipping to Foss- I received my rudder about eight weeks after I sent it. It arrived nicely crated and with an invoice that was exactly what they quoted me at the...

Are the spinnakers still available? Do you have dimensions? Foot, midgirth?

Looking for a sail - SF Bay

I'm traveling to San Francisco for the June 27-28th weekend. I was hoping to try and hook up with an Ericson owner for a sail on the bay. I have an E35Mk2 that I sail and race on Lake Ontario - mostly single-handed. I'd love to sail in the waters of this beautiful boats birthplace. Is it too...

How smooth should the bottom be?

I'm applying Interlux 2000e to my hull after spending the past few weekends stripping my E35 to the gelcoat. What kills me about this product is that I spent weeks stripping, sanding and fairing my hull to a beautiful smooth finish and then the 2000e goes on with an orange peel texture that...

    Spinnaker or drifter for 35-2

I have a UK Flasher that came with the boat. It's a "classic" which means it dates to the mid 1970s. It comes with a sock. I'm not sure the previous owner used it very much. I've used it about ten times since I bought the boat three years ago. It won't win you the America Cup but it will...

    Hard time hoisting

I'm not sure that the original sheaves in the Kenyon mast even had bearings. Mine didn't. I had a similar problem and found the sheaves which were wooden had pretty much seized up when I bought the boat. Raising the main felt like I was pulling a rope over a tree branch. I took the sheaves...

    Plans for Extending Rudder

I read a good book over Christmas that brought me to the decision to spend the money and time to extend my rudder and have Foss do it. The book is called "Yacht Design Explained" by Steve Killing and Douglas Hunter. It does a very good job of explaining why boats sail the way they do in terms...
