    Fixing Mast Noise

Not sure if your 32 is the same, but on my 27 I suffered from the same slapping noise. Lying there in the v berth I would nearly lose my mind with the loud SLAP SLAP SLAP that would happen when the boat rocked even a little bit. The aggravation of pulling the mast was nothing compared to the...

    Bow Anchor Roller.

No good solution Jeff- I looked at installing a roller on my 27 too. After much consideration I decided that there was no easy way to install a roller that could be used for anchor storage. The only benefit would be to ease the process of hauling it. With that in mind I reevaulated and...

Why Should Pacific Seacraft Support EY.c?

I apologize if this has already been said. There are lots of impassioned posts that I confess I have not read in their entirety. My answer to the question of why PSC should keep the site up is this: You bought it. If you didn't want to maintain the site you shouldn't have purchased it...

    Boat Yards in Maine

You might want to try Portland Yacht Services. http://www.portlandyacht.com/ DIY friendly. They can be a little spendy, but they do good work. Lots of indoor and outdoor storage. Its a great location too, unless you have to stay out on one of their moorings for any length of time. -Mitch

Parts or replacement for Homestrand 206

Probably not what you want to hear, but replacing my Kenyon Curtainburner with an Origo nonpressurized stove was one of the best improvements I've made to the boat. Can't imagine going back. -mitch

Yet another sole thread... T & H veneer?

While reading all of these sole replacement threads, I was reminded of my recent musing about sole refurbishment in our E-27. The 27 has a molded fiberglass sole which we have covered with a carpet. The admiral and I have long lusted after the teak & holley soles we see in other boats and were...

    E-27: stepping the mast

The mast is up. Didn't use the bridge this year, and don't have any plans to take the mast down for the next few years, so I didn't install a hinge. This year I used one of the tanker piers in Portland that has an overhanging framework. It was just high enough to do the trick. Thanks...

    E 27 Halyards change

Hi there. I just replaced my wire to rope halyards with 3/8" Sta-set X. What a huge improvement. They are slick and required no changes to the existing sheaves at the masthead. Go for it - you'll love them! -Mitch

    E-27: stepping the mast

Some of you may remember my adventures last fall in unstepping the mast on my 27 with the help of a local bridge. Now that it is spring, its time to reverse the process...and I'm still too cheap to hire the job out. So, here is what I'm thinking: What if I were to raft up to some friends...

    E27 Scupper reroute?

After a full weekend of swearing and bloodying my knuckles I finally have the rusted exhaust riser and cockpit scupper hoses removed from the boat. The original scupper hoses needed replacement since they are cracked and very bad shape. The issue is whether the original design, leading...

32-3 - Leather cover for the YS Wheel

Wheel Leather I just finished sewing a leather cover on the wheel of my E-27. My wheel is much smaller than yours, but the project still took FOREVER. The actual sewing was very time consuming. I didn't order precut leather. I measured, cut, and prepunched it all myself and then sewed it...

    E-27 Mast step

All is well that ends well. Monday was a pretty fun day. The only part of the adventure that I didn't mention was the rusted out exhaust elbow pumping fumes into the cabin on the way back to the boatyard. Yech! I guess I know what the next project is going to be. Today poor Halimede is on a...

    E-27 Mast step

Hassle? On the contrary, it was a great day for a boat project. No hassle at all. As for putting it back up, I may end up having to shell out the $250 or whatever it is for stepping/unstepping, or I may just have to reverse the whole process under cover of darkness! Now that'll be a...
