Hi, I think the mainsail helps with mast stability and reduces mast pump in a choppy sea. This is especially important to those of us who have not replaced our OLD (e27) spreader bases! Are you reefing the main? Familiar with the process? Dave
tank removal
I have a '76 E27 too. I found the tank came right out of the lazzarette (sic) and a nice new plastic job fit right in. With a few mods to hold it down, like a plywood base. Pretty simple. Forgive me if you've covered this already-- I didn't read the whole thread.

Hi, I'm looking to replace our exisiting 3 blade prop with a 2 blade. I think the 3 blade is too small as the boat barely powers at 4 3/4 knots. No tachometer on the boat though. Anyone have this boat and 2 cylinder diesel with a gear ratio of 2.62? Is hull speed about 5.5 knots?
