Ericson 32-3 steering cables keep jumping the quadrant

I am trying to figure out how to put the washers on top of the radial drive. The length of exposed rudder post above the drive is about 6-8 inches.

Ericson 32-3 steering cables keep jumping the quadrant

What keeps it from moving up than? the bushing on top of the rudder? So if i flip the quadrant, the rudder would drop until the quadrant hits the top of the rudder post tube unless i add a spacer or sleeve below the quadrant?

Ericson 32-3 steering cables keep jumping the quadrant

What holds the rudder in place? Is it just the quadrant or is there something else (does it mean that the rudder might just drop if i remove the quadrant)?

Ericson 32-3 steering cables keep jumping the quadrant

I hear you. I went through old invoices previous owner provided and it looks like the pedestal was replaced in 2012. So if wrong parts were used, which is possible, why this started happening now? Maybe because my rudder started having a little vertical play, just enough to cause misalignment...

Ericson 32-3 steering cables keep jumping the quadrant

Smaller sheave would allign with the quadrant but would not align with the hole cables come through from the pedestal and rub against the bushing i think...

Ericson 32-3 steering cables keep jumping the quadrant

I thought about it, there is a through-bolt that goes through the quadrant and the rudderpost, which would prevent what you propose, unless i drill a new home for the bolt.

Ericson 32-3 steering cables keep jumping the quadrant

I bought a 1985 Ericson 32-3 last year (my second Ericson 32) and my Edson steering system is giving me issues. The steering cables keep jumping the quadrant during a hard tack. I thought it was just loose steering cables, so I tightened them. Now it happened for the 3rd time and I am puzzled. I...

Replacing Datamarine speed and depth with Raymarine i50 instruments

Hey Oldfauser, I am planning to do the same, swap the old Datamarine insturments with the new Raymarine DST800 and some wireless ones. How did your transducer replacement go? Was it enough to fill the gap with marine sealent or did you have to do any other prep work? Any feedback helps

Adding breakers to the DC panel for Raymarine ev-100 auto pilot installation.

Thank you. I was told to connect it to negative bar if i don't have a separate ground bar.

Adding breakers to the DC panel for Raymarine ev-100 auto pilot installation.

There is the red wire (positive), black wire (negative) and the naked ground wire. Where do i attach the naked ground wire? Same negative bus as the black? 1985 E32-3 Universal 25 diesel City Island, NY

Adding breakers to the DC panel for Raymarine ev-100 auto pilot installation.

Now the most basic question: where do i connect the ground wire? Seatalk ng power cable and the acu has +/-/g wires. Where does the ground go? Thanks in advance....

Adding breakers to the DC panel for Raymarine ev-100 auto pilot installation.

Endless Possibilities :)) Thanks for the advice but, I already purchased the circuit breakers for this project. I think I will run out of space the panel soon for the future projects.

I assume 10 amp breaker is between the battery and the ACU-100 controller...

Adding breakers to the DC panel for Raymarine ev-100 auto pilot installation.

Thanks for sharing this. I have a quick question: Wheel drive motor is connected to and powered by ACU-100 controller not by the panel. So, do you have an inline circuit breaker/fuse between the motor and the controller or between the controller and the battery?

Adding breakers to the DC panel for Raymarine ev-100 auto pilot installation.

Those are not only on/off switches, but also circuit breakers. They do have a similar function as the inline fuse., but reusable....
