I have owned my 1989 Ericson 34 for about a year. It only has two halyards rigged - main and jib. There are two other halyard thin 'messenger type' lines in the mast with a small ball on the end of each as they exit the mast. I haven't been up the mast yet to check out the pulleys on the top...
