E35-3 Aft-led lines and Traveler Setup

I searched the forum but came up empty on this. Has anyone got a great system for running lines aft on the E35-3 without tearing out the traveller footings? On my boat, the fairly wide traveler footings leave little room for running the lines aft between the footing and the cabin entry...

    Mast Wires for internal halyards?

I am converting my E35-2 to internal halyards. I am now at the wire phase of the project. It seems that there is no easy way! My plan is to use 4 10' PVC thin wall water pipes to run the 42' span. I figure I can in several spots drill a 1/2 inch hole in the pipe and a hole through the other side...

    Upgraded Halyards

We are needing to replace the main halyard, 54 ft wire with 64 ft of line, has anyone just replaced the whole halyard with a low stretch line like v100? If we do the upgrade do I need to replace the block at the top of the mast because of the sheave? Thanks

Running rigging questions including all rope halyards

I am about to replace the standing and running rigging on my E32-3. The boat will be used for cruising and club racing. Perhaps an offshore passage to Cuba or Key West from the St. Pete area. I intend to go with low stretch lines for sheets and control lines. Recommendations for types of...

    New winches for halyards

Folks, I am planing to move the main and jib halyards winches and cleats of the mast this winter and looking for suggestions on what would be the best solution. I have two original winches that i can reinstall on the top of the cabin (on both sides of companionway and if i do so should i use...

    Wire Rope Halyards

My 35-3 has wire halyards. The main seems to be in good shape but the jib halyard is showing a few broken strands. The wire halyards seem like a good idea but for the fact that they are hard to replace. I would like to switch to a more standard rope halyard (Dacron?). Any gotchas and/or...

    halyards?

I am replacing masthead sheaves, and changing out wire/rope halyards (main/jib/spare jib) for all line. I am also replacing my spinnaker halyard, because the old one is oversized for its sheave. There are a lot of choices on material out there, and some of the prices are pretty daunting! The...

    Halyards and sunbrella fabric?

ok,first on the halyard part,,my 23-2 has the halyards switched, at least they are switched from what i know. i always thought it was good seamanship to always have your jib halyard port and the main starboard, that way no matter what boat youre on,,you always know what halyard to grab. well,,my...

    E34 Halyards

Our 1989 E34 has a new StaSet X main halyard by rigger Brian Toss and an old wire with rope tail jib halyard. On the Kenyon mast there are extra exit holes on each side of the mast, apparently with messenger lines tied off. Are there extra sheaves at the masthead for these? I'm considering...

    Caring for your halyards

Since my last reply to Keith's thread, I got to thinking about this topic, and for those of you who use your boats infrequently, and/or store your boats for the off-season with the masts up, you have a problem in that your halyards are left exposed to the sun and wind-degrading all the time they...

    Halyards Ex. to Int.

Henry, When I pulled my mast a few years ago I wanted to do the same as you are talking about. But unfortunately I found that you would have to reconstruct the masthead ie: cut it off and rebuild it. I decided that it would be to much and left them external. Pat E-29 #224 Holy Guacamole

all rope halyards instead of rope to wire

Some time ago there was a discussion about using all rope halyards instead of rope to wire. I have a E-27 and want to create a longer halyard so I can create a fair leeds to the cockpit. I would also be interested in knowing the best way to accomplish bringing the line aft. Any photos would...

    Halyards lead aft

I am contemplating moving my mast winches to the cabin top and leading all my halyards aft to the cockpit. Has anyone out there dealt with this before. My boat is a '76 E23 with a cored deck. The routing of the lines will be OK, but the mounting of the winches to the cored deck with back...

    E26 Spinnaker Halyards

During an attempt to rig a spinnaker halyard, the sheave or sheave spindle has broken. Resulting in the sheave being inside the mast at deck level Does anyone know how the sheave is installed in the Isomat mast on a 1988 E26? Can the sheave carrier be removed from the mast without taking...

    Ericson 35 halyards

I need to replace the main and jib halyards on a 42' mast, currently have wire/rope. Anyone any advice on this size of mast different from the discussion on the 27 below? Plus, is there a minimum thickness of line that will not tear up hands excesssively? Also, any recommendations on material...
