Some Sun Cover Protection

GMC

Member II
I've got a 1980 E-25+ and am seeking some advice for sun cover while under sail. I am fine, but my wife gets very uncomfortable in the direct sun in the cockpit during summer. We sail out of New Bedford. She has okay'd getting something to get her some shade, but I am perplexed. Traveler is forward of helm at front of cockpit, at entrance to companionway. Split backstay is over my head at the wheel. It seems that any configuration is going to be too complicated or too high and/or too short to do her much good. I understand biminis can be made to go around stay and such, but the height seems to defeat the goal. Has anyone used any of these attachable shades (Taylor) that look like fans or do they just blow away? Any other suggestions? I know hats and sunscreen, but she wants a little more and I aim to please.
