35-2 Traveller

I have 1977 Ericson 35-2. I would like to move the traveller from the cockpit to just forward of the Main Hatch. I had planned on using the Gaurhauer traveller system with thier stand off brackets. With proper backing plates, do you think that the cabin top structure can support the traveller and the new mainsheet winch. Has anyone done this mod.

Thanks

Kevin

I have a 1971 e-35 II I have seen the travler moved to just behind the companionway. Seems like it would be a hassel to step over. The cabin top is mostly hollow on these boats and may not offer the strength required. Also keep in mind, with the main sheet at the end of the boom you have great leverage over the sail. By moving it forward you give this up.

I'd be interested in seeing what people have done to improve the original 35-2 traveller. The old pin stops and sliding pad eye are not optimal.
