I don't think you will have any shortage of wind this coming weekend.
Beam Winds!
You sure got that right !
We were coming back on Monday but forget about it !!!
A beam wind of 42 knots (highest I measured, not the highest we had) when tied bow and stern is very interesting. You start wondering how good the moorings are and if you shouldn't drop the stern line.
Some damage to the gel coat on the bow as the hawser was on the starboard
side and the wind from port. No way to move it over when the gusts were pushing us over 20° or more.
Also found out that the stern chocks are highly directional. When holding a line going to the dock they are fine and present a nice round surface. On the other hand, when the load is from behind or from the opposite side they present an almost knife edge. When I saw that a couple of strands of the stern hawser were already cut (not chafed) I took the hawser out of the chock and wrapped it in layers of towels, resting against bare fiberglass.
One sailboat on the beach, east of the dock. It was resting above the high water mark.
