Marina Fire

Ray Rhode, a member here, sent me this link about a tragic fire at a marina in NC.

Ray noted that we should all check our shore power cords / connections because they feel a faulty cord was the start here.

Holy crap! The aerial photos really show the extent of the damage.

I was reading about shore power connections when I replaced mine several months ago. It seems the problem is that the screws that hold the wires in the connector get loose and cause arcing. On mine I could see where arcing had slightly burned the insulator at one of the terminals.

Now that I have replaced the inlet side on the boat, I really need to replace the cable from my dock box to the boat.
