E32-2 chainplate/bulkhead fix

John Bouchard

Member II
I have just purchased a 1971 E32 (Hull #199) and intend to offer a little TLC, and hopefully keep this boat afloat for many more years. I do have to reinforce/repair rotted (not totally) bulkhead/ chainplate areas, and have seen some of the discussion at this site and a couple of others. Any technical details or drawings
relative to this type of project would be very much appreciated!

Sincerely, John B.

Chainplate repair

I have 1970 vintage E32-#134.

Search the archives under chainplate repair. There is a long discussion about that project.

Keep your deck plates well bedded, and it will not ever happen again.

MK-
Thanks for the encouragement! I will keep the re-beds up! Whatever I do, I will keep the repair waterproofed one way or the other.

I have looked at the archives, and I will probably end up using the c-shaped reinforcement. or at least something like that. In addition, it seems that sealing the top edge of the bulkheads is somewhat critical.

I will let you ( and all...) know how it goes!

Thanks, John B
