E 27 cradle

We have an E 27 and would like to trailer it. Does anyone know what the hull below the water looks like so we can build a cradle for it? It is presently in the water and we do not have a clue of the dimensions other than a 4 foot draft and pictures in profile of it. Buckles.

Welcome Buckles,

You may want to check your local DMV laws regarding trailering max width, which in most states is 8'6"? The 1978 e27 that I own is 9' beam.

I trailer my E29 700 mile round trip each April to Mobile Bay for a week of partying, sailing and the Dauphin Island Race. Rumkin has a 9’ 4” beam and with the trailer she weighs 12,000 pounds.
This is my float on trailer that is easier to load than a bass boat and my ½ ton GMC truck tow vehicle.

E29 Trailer

Hi Buckles,
Here is my E-29 on a custom trailer built by LoadMaster in Sandusky OH ($6500)

While I don't know the exact dimensions, I could measure it this weekend. I'm hoping to relaunch it this weekend.

Are you only interested in the draft?

Beam is just over 9 ft. (9 ft 3 in, I think)

Ill try to take some measurements this weekend, if youll let me know what you need.

Photos of E-27 on the hard.

What my E-27 looks like out of the water. As you probably already know E-27's are about 7,000 lbs. I have never had to trailer her. Hope the photos help.

Question for an old thread

For those of you towing the 27 and 29, how do you address the hollow back portion the the keel? Do you worry about getting too much weight and busting the keel?

Forward block

I placed a V-Block at the forward point on the wooden keel rest. The keel rest was just long enough to support the weight bearing portion of the keel. I painted the outline of the block on the keel so the marina would know just where to place the boat on the trailer.

Good idea

Good idea however I am planning to launch/retrieve the boat by trailer. The trailer has a 10' extension to allow me to get deeper in the water. Still I think your setup would work.
