Horizontal cracks in rudder.

Hello all, during haul-out I noticed two horizontal cracks on one side of the rudder of my E27. I sanded the cracks only to discover that they are gel coat deep they don't go through the fiberglass layer. This weekend I epoxyed them with the same west system 105/205/406 epoxy that I was using to fill some blisters. I'm starting to have second thought that maybe I should have done MORE. I wonder what your opinion is.

Well you did the right thing in grinding the cracks down to be sure that they were not all the way through. But since the cracks probably resulted from too much flex in that location, I would have suggested putting a layer or two of new glass over those spots with epoxy to reinforce the area. If you haven't splashed the boat yet you can still do it.
