I'm sorry but I don't know what tis is called, but I need a new one. It's the end of the headsail halyard for the roller furler. The sail attaches to it in the hole and is and is raised with the roundish part in the there is no brand name on the furler. the line is rather ratty and the "thingy" ( not proper sailling term:confused::confused:) is worn.

That looks very proprietary. You may not be able to get a new one. If you do not know the brand/model of furler then post some detailed pictures here and we should be able to figure it out.

Quite often the maker of the furler will have their logo on the drum somewhere. Might want to take a close up look and as Tim sez, post up some digital images.
(Or as Yoda might have said, in another galaxy. "Help you we will; inform us you must.")

There was no name on the furler. It seems "Vintage" so the name faded a long time ago. I will ltake pix of the unit when I get to the boat in a week or two.

I suspect from looking at the picture that you have a CDI Cruising Design, Inc. Flexible Furler. On this web site they tell you how to identify the model: http://www.sailcdi.com/spfimain.htm.

On the pages with parts lists they comment that the halyard with the molded on plastic piece has been replaced with different parts.

Good luck.
