Has anyone installed a windlass on an E-35, Mk III? If so would like to get your thoughts and ideas.

Thanks,

E38 windlass

I installed a windlass on my 38 a few years ago. I went with a manual horizontal style as it would take the least room, and probably be the easiest to install. That said, there were a couple of threads on installing a windlass on 38s back then, this is one I especially liked, www.peak.org/~reedbug/windlass.htm

There was another for a 34 that has the windlass behind the locker http://www.ericsonyachts.org/infoexchange/showthread.php?t=2618&highlight=windlass
but I didn't want to intrude on an already small v-berth area

I've been happy with the manual. Though it probably takes me longer to hoist anchor than an electric, I've always been able to crank it up by myself. Mine is mounted behind the locker door far enough that I can get a full circle on the winch handle without hitting the locker door, and slightly off to port so it aligns with the bow roller.
