E35-II sail area

I'm pretty sure that sail area measurements are given assuming no roach on the main and a 100% jib.

I concur. I believe, also, several square feet are excluded because of the 'PHRF'-friendly' area at the foot of the 'stock' mains'l.:)

And is correct

So that fair comparisons can be made, sail areas are published as a no-roach main and 100% headsail-even though this is not a true representation of what the boat will sail like-in reality you will sail with about 30% more area in most conditions-but this is a normalized value so one can compare one boat from another-keep in mind that PHRF will use the real sail areas according to PHRF measurement formula-NOT published brochure data..

In case you are unaware, the E35 has been available with a 40' or 42' mast, so the 533 sq. ft. is not universal. I think I read once there was also a 45' version.
