Leaking chainplates

Hi everyone.

I know there are many post regarding leaking chainplates on the 38. Mine leaked several years ago and one has developed a small leak again. Last time I paid to have it repaurd this time I will need to do it.

My question is on the Starboard Chainplate that the upper and lower attached to. I only see 2 nuts coming through the deck for the upper and lower. Logic says there should be 4.

Could someone enlighten me

Thanks

Glad that old thread was helpful. I hope you have a better time than I did when I dug into that. I had to build up the deck to make it all fit together correctly. And the original plate was so thin and poorly made (hole size and alignment) I had a thicker one built. Remember to countersink the holes on top of the deck before you reseal that hardware. The u-bolts are stainless and can be bent to the correct alignment if you need to straighten them.

It has been holding up very well.

Good luck!
