E-25 Main Halyard

Cruzzor

Steve B. - Santa Cruz
I have a 1976 E-25. Necessity is my first boat and I love her. I've only owned her for a couple of months, so this is my first of what probably will be a lot of questions.

The main halyard is on the right side of the mast, no winch.

There is a winch on the left side of the mast, which has the jib halyard. The jib halyard is not used because my roller furling doesn't use the halyard.

My sailing buddies say go ahead and reverse them so I can use the winch for my main halyard. Is there any reason that I should NOT do this?

I reversed the halyards on my E27 for some time. The shakles were different but it worked fine for me.

Go for it

No reason not to, and you will have better control over the main sail...
