The IMI Combi was the "Bee's Knees" of instrumentation in the early 80's. The outer bezel was optionally offered in polished bronze for "classic" boats.
Since the company is long long gone, you might want to first fill in the old opening with a backing plate, fiberglass, and surface it with matching gel coat. Then lay out and re-hole for new current-technology instruments... A friend of mine did that way over 5 years ago on his Ericson and then put in an all-Nexus system (bus, cpu, and whole nine yards).
I like the Raymarine ST60 package because that's what I converted to when my original Datamarines started dying.
Lots of good choices out there, and they are *all*easier on the eyes, and all come with some sort of "bus" system.
Hardest part of the job is invisibly filling the large hole left by the old instrument head, IMHO.
