Re: The SailNet Question (they're having gone under) - the following is an email and image from the Ericson List regarding the business and it's current state, including images taken this morning at 10 am EDT (July 19th, 2005).

This is not a commentary on SailNet - rather, it's just a service for those without an newsgroup account setup:

Someone who lives close to Sailnet has posted a series of pictures
showing that the Sailnet sign has been taken down, the parking lot is
empty, and the building is locked up, with a closed sign in the door. He
went once at 9 am, and then when he returned a little later, there was a
Mercedes parked near the door, but despite pounding on the door, there
was no response. He asked around at a few other buildings nearby, and
was told it's been mostly deserted there. If you were charged for goods
you have not yet received, you probably should contact your credit card
company as soon as possible. The photographer did include a picture
showing the license plate of the Mercedes, which you may also find
helpful...

The text that was attached to the post with the dark office interior:

This picture taken through front door. Power is still on, even a copy
machine just inside the front door is still running, its LCD screen lit to
the right of this picture. That's me in the reflection peering through the
locked door with my little camera. At 9AM and at 10AM, when the Mercedes
was in the lot, all but the night light was dark, the accounting department
to the left of the picture computers were all off. Normally, there would
be a receptionist there at 0830 and this lobby would be filled with
displays trying to sell you something. All the displays and most of the
furniture that was there is gone. They left one Sospenders hanging from
one of the file cabinets.

Nasty Email from SailNet

I don't know if this is the right place to put this, but it seemed like it might be of interest. What follows is an email I and a bunch of other people on the Ericson List found in our mailboxes this morning....

You would think they would have more um, 'pressing' matters on their minds, no?
