Single-handed Mast-stepping 'kit'???

OK, i've more or less read through the original manual
now for my new '78 E25c/b. there is a cute little picture
pamphlet as well, a step by step on how to raise and
lower the deck-stepped mast by yourself- and a 'kit'
available (at the time) for $345 i think it was..

so, how many of us single-hand and, on a regular basis,
raise and lower our own masts?? tips?? tools?? 'kit'???!

thanks, as always,

Hi Brian,

I raise and lower my mast often (bridge avoidance). I do not disconnect the mast from the step as I think you would need to do for trailering. Is your main sheet attached mid boom or at the aft end of the boom?

Mast raising

Well which way you go, when you raise or lower the mast depends on what kind of mast step you have. Mine has a slot in it so that I can drop the mast aft. I have built a system to raise and lower my mast by myself on my ericson 25+. I have trailered the boat to many places. You can contact me directly if you have more questions. Ryan

further...

single (1/2"?) pin holds the mast in its tabernacle-
but i believe it will only lower forward(?)- need to look
again at my boom/main sheet- VERY new to all of this
and basically taking classes in sailing here as i also work
the key refits and safety improvements-

i would be very interested in hearing how you raise and
lower your mast, Ryan-

thnx,

brian
