I'm replacing my engine for an outboard
Engine is running and has a new alternator with tach port
I add a racor water separator on the pile too.
Price is $1800 and boat is located at Oakland estuary
I can cut slightly the price if you help to remove it.

Uh? I'll bite. If you have an engine that is running, why change it for a less satisfactory alternative? I had a San Juan 26 on S.F. Bay for many years and used inboard and outboard power over the years. The outboard was difficult to use and definitely caused a droop of the waterline in the stern area. The saildrive Volvo gave by far the easiest handling under power as the prop was right behind the keel. Too bad the aluminum used in the leg isn't the best in salt water. The Volvo was actually a Perkins with a Volvo saildrive. It worked great.

My opinion after many years of sailing with all three types is I would never have an outboard on a sailboat 25' or larger.

S.F. Bay is windy and choppy. Expect the outboard prop to come out of the water in those conditions

My son is allergic to diesel fumes and odor.
Engine is running and push good but I prefer something more easy to work with.
I just need engine for 30 minutes until I reach the end of the channel, then, it's all about sail.
If the day is too windy simply we do not sail that day
