Battery Hold-down bar for 32-3

I've been needing hold-downs (straps or otherwise) for the house batteries on my 32-3. My house batts are housed in the molded battery compartment under the port quarterberth cushion but were unsecured in the compartment.

From the looks of all the holes drilled in the base of the compartment, none of the previous owners could agree on the best place to attach hold-down straps. I came up with a different idea: 3/8" aluminum rod covered with 1/2" plastic tubing; a 3/8" hole drilled in aft wall of battery case and a 1/2" hole drilled in forward wall; a short section of un-tubed rod locks the bar in the aft wall; a thick, slide-able nylon washer (drilled out to hold a locking screw) locks the 1/2" end into the front of the battery case.

Holds batteries down tight and limits side-to-side movement. Cost about $6 and took 15 min to install.

Cross that one off the list.

Elegant solution, Ken.

It was nice to meet you the other evening and talk about the boats.
