Quarterberth Upholstery Protector

I keep the inflatable, the Torqueedo outboard and sometimes a case of Diet Coke in the quarterberth. Sliding heavy stuff in and out is hard on me and on the upholstery. A "sliding" surface is needed.

On this boat I tried Masonite. Ten bucks and it works and looks good--for a year or two. Then it stains and eventually splits.

A better answer is ABS plastic, used for everything from car dashboards to Lego blocks. A 4 x 8 sheet is about $40 retail. It cuts with a jigsaw or tip snips.

Everything slides nicely. If guests are to sleep there the dinghy and outboard are likely in the water and the ABS sheet just slides under the mattress.

Great Idea

I just had new cushions made for the 28/2 and also use the quarter berth for storage. Certainly will be replicating this idea. You've mentioned it before and thanks for the photos.
